Beware of Whatsapp Spam Messages inviting you to Activate Video Calling Feature

Facebook-owned WhatsApp has been adding the latest feature video calling, which available for Android version(4.3+), iOS7+, and Windows Phone platforms. The functionality was introduced in the beta update last month, and now it’s being rolled out gradually to all users.

However, since it isn’t available to everyone, scammers are making full use of this opportunity by circulating fake messages to activate the video calling feature.

It must be noted that these links aren’t official from Whatsapp, and may be either spyware or adware. The scammers are making money when users click on these links since these websites are crammed with ads. Some of these links could even infect your smartphone.

We tried one such link on a phone ourselves, and the website we landed on looks similar to the official site. It fools the users by asking them to invite their friends and groups – and probably that’s why such messages are going viral. The scammers also get access to your personal details in the process.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time such spam is doing the rounds on WhatsApp.

We have heard about the exploding of Galaxy Note 7 from across different countries but this time it is not from Samsung, but a new report  from China suggests Samsung isn’t the only one with this problem. A report from Chinese  tech site Gizmochina says an Apple iPhone 7 Plus exploded
after being dropped by the user.

According to the report from Chinese tech site, the phone was working perfectly. After the drop, the phone vibrated continuously and it started emitting smoke out of the device. The battery then exploded, leaving the screen cracked and nearly detached from the phone itself. After some time the smartphone’s screen was shattered completely, and it was detached from the body

Another iPhone suffered a battery malfunction and subsequent explosion in October, and there was another incident where an iPhone caught fire inside a car while it was connected to a charger.

Even the Note 7 explosions started slowly, and now we don’t have Note 7 smartphones anymore. But this is doesnt means Iphone is danger to the world.

So far, Apple has not made any public comments on the matter but is  reported to be investigating the latter of those two incidents.
